Each Women's Branch is Different

I wasn't sure at first how God would use this book when I first got it last year. However, I didn't know that I would need it a year later today. The book is for women and our tendencies on how we sometimes prevent God from giving us the life he planned. I did love how Darlene Wilkinson uses John 15. She broke it down in such a way that it became clear the small things in my life mattered for Christ. In doing those things I thought wasn’t important I actually bear fruit for Christ! He doesn’t expect any more from me then what I am capable of in my everyday life.  There were a few parts of the book that were confusing for me. I didn’t completely understand her explanation of pain existing in punishment but not in pruning.  So that was kind of clear for me. I would recommend this book for women who are struggling with feeling like they aren’t baring fruit for the Lord and whose who want to bare more fruit.

Since Nobody’s Perfect..

“Find out now what’s wrong with the most popular theory about heaven- and what it really takes to get there.” In one of Andy Stanley’s recent books titled: How Good is Good Enough? Stanley writes and explains wonderfully why this belief of how to get into heaven doesn’t ring true.

Sure for most people it seems logical that only “good people” get in to heaven. Well as the bible says there is no such person on earth who meets this “good” person standard. Stanley breaks it down and does a nice job in explaining why this belief can’t be true. 

If you know someone who believes that “good” people go to heaven or if you belief it then I would recommend this book. When trying to seek out truth in this world it can be found and this book answers some great questions someone may have when it comes to this popular belief. When seeking out truth I just ask you be open to what Stanley has to say and how God’s word doesn’t support this belief.

You’re Power: God’s Word

Thirty one days of power was written by Ruth Myers and her late husband Warren Myers. “For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword..” Hebrews 4:12. This is a great verse from the bible and it illustrates perfectly the weapon of power that is God’s word. The book Thirty one days of power is just that.  

As Christ’s children we are called to put on the armor of God and resist the forces of evil in this battle of spiritual warfare.  Myer’s goal is for you to be better equipped to stand up against these forces of evil. Thirty one days of power is a wonderful tool that weaves together God’s word in an expression of praise and worship. This helps equipped Christ’s children by bringing us into a deeper understanding of God’s word and our victory over evil through Christ our Lord. The battle has already been won! It’s us as God’s children who must take up our armor of God and know that God is stronger than the evil one who is in this world. We don’t have to be afraid because God has equipped us with all we need, which is the Holy Spirit and His word.

I wasn’t sure about reading a devotional that was all simply God’s word from the bible, but as I started I felt the Holy Spirit speaking to me. It was amazing and I loved praising the Lord as I read. There were times when I felt I was reading a letter or note written from God. At the end of some of the readings the devotional gives you a space to write and add a prayer. The readings are not too long and are very deep. I felt moved from the inside sometimes and had to read over it again. I would recommend being open to Christ’s word in this devotional and allowing for the Holy Spirit to work in you through this wonderful book. Praise the Lord for He is faithful and His word is perfect.

Living In Fear or Seeking God?

Last night I realized something as I turned to my devotional for the night.

"Now am I trying to win the favor of men, or of God? Do I seek to please men? If I were still seeking popularity with men, I should not be a bond servant of Christ." Galations 1:10

Now I don't have this all figured out. meaning it isn't always easy to recognize when you are seeking other people's approval instead of the one who truly matters. Let's face it people are not the most forgiving creatures, but God is truly merciful and forgiving.

"The apostle Paul said that in his ministry he had to choose between pleasing men and pleasing God. That is a choice you also must make. If your goal is to build a name for yourself and win favor with people, it will cause you to live in fear of man"( Ending Your Day Right by Joyce meyer) Reading that last night it hits home for me, because Iam currently struggling with living in fear of some of my professor's approval. This doesn't make me feel to good. So instead of being scared of my professor's judgments I am doing my best to seek and look to God instead. He is the only one who truly makes me feel free from this. I trust and know God knows what He's doing.

Blog Purpose

The purpose of this blog is a way for me to post my reviews of the books I recieve from waterbrookmultnomah.com. I'm very excited to have my first book from them and start my spirtual journey diving deeper into Christ's word. Also, this blog will develop and change as I do. I look forward to seeing how God changes me and helps me grow. :)

My first book is called Thirty-one Days of Power learning to live in spiritual victory written by Ruth Myers and Warren Myers. I hope to start my devotional tomorrow.
